"This is one of the most 'comfortable' collections of piano standards
that I have heard for quite some time. It's comfortable in the same way the
Tony Bennett's renditions of many of these same songs is, or as a lounge
pianist might render them.
One of the production qualities that really impressed me was the sense of 'presence'. The stereo separation and balance is so good that one might almost be sitting beside the player at the keyboard. Added to this is a brilliant clarity of sound - especially in the higher registers - that makes this disc come alive.
Obviously I liked the production and, as it happens, 90% of the pieces are among my favorites. All in all, a really satisfying listening experience. Actually, one doesn't have to make an effort to listen. Put it on in the background, call in you best friend and pour a glass of one's favorite whatever.
